Zoom Launches Unified Context Layer to Automate Business Workflows
Zoom Communications Inc. introduced a Unified Context Layer and AI agent teams to link conversation data with third-party business applications and automate task execution.
Zoom Communications Inc. announced a major expansion of its AI capabilities at the Zoomtopia virtual conference, centering on the launch of the Unified Context Layer. This shared intelligence system links conversation history with documents and data from over 40 connected third-party applications, including Salesforce, ServiceNow, Workday, Google Drive, and Microsoft OneDrive. The system enables agentic search and allows AI agents to maintain context across meetings, calls, and chats to automate workflows.
As part of this rollout, the company introduced ZoomMate Agent Teams for coordinated task execution and My Notes Workflows, which allow users to convert meeting summaries into actions in external software using natural language. To capture in-person discussions, Zoom partnered with hardware providers Bota and DTEN to offer wearable recorders and magnetic cards. The company is also opening its conversation intelligence to external platforms like ChatGPT and Claude through APIs and Model Context Protocol connectors.
Additional updates include the expansion of Zoom Virtual Agents into physical kiosks for healthcare and retail, as well as tools for voice cloning and real-time accent smoothing. To manage security, Zoom is implementing deepfake detection and sensitivity label synchronization with Microsoft Purview. While many features are available immediately, others are scheduled for release through the first quarter of 2027. In its fiscal second-quarter 2027 earnings report, the company noted a 256% increase in Zoom Virtual Agent customers.
