Telecom Egypt Joins FTSE Russell Emerging Markets Mid Cap Index
Telecom Egypt moved from the Small Cap to the Mid Cap segment of the FTSE Russell Emerging Markets Index following a rise in market capitalization.
The FTSE Russell Emerging Markets Index upgraded Telecom Egypt from the Small Cap to the Mid Cap segment as part of its September 2026 semi-annual review for the Middle East and Africa region. The transition follows the company's market capitalization increasing to approximately 3.9 billion USD.
Company leadership attributes the move to improved liquidity, stronger cash flows, and a financial strategy focused on disciplined management and accelerated cash generation. The upgrade makes Telecom Egypt one of only three Egyptian companies currently included in the index and is expected to attract increased inflows from international index-tracking funds and global institutional investors.
Chief Executive Officer Tamer El Mahdi stated the upgrade represents "international recognition" of the company's sustainable growth and ability to create long-term value for shareholders. The move also elevates the global standing of the Egyptian Exchange.
