Unite Union Schedules Two Strike Waves at Leeds Bradford Airport

Unite union members will strike at Leeds Bradford Airport in two phases starting October 16 over a pay dispute with airport management.

Nearly 130 members of the Unite union, including air traffic control, security, cleaning, and customer experience staff, will conduct industrial action at Leeds Bradford Airport. The strikes are scheduled in two waves: from October 16 to 18, and again from October 23 to November 2.

Union General Secretary Sharon Graham argues that the airport is profitable enough to meet member expectations and that staff should not be paid less than those performing the same roles at other UK airports. In contrast, airport management maintains it has provided a fair and responsible offer that exceeds inflation and ensures long-term business sustainability.

While Leeds Bradford Airport expects to maintain near-normal operations, AirHelp has warned that the involvement of air traffic control staff makes delays and cancellations a real possibility. The passenger rights organization is urging travelers to monitor updates and understand their legal entitlements regarding refunds and rerouting under UK law.
