Two UK Construction Firms Enter Administration Amid Sector Insolvency

Mackoy Limited and Hawksmoor Construction Ltd entered administration in June 2026, contributing to a growing trend of financial instability within the UK construction industry.

Two construction companies, Mackoy Limited and Hawksmoor Construction Ltd, entered administration in June 2026 as part of a wider insolvency trend affecting the UK building sector. This instability follows the recent administration of Agetur and the voluntary creditor's liquidation of Juma Construction Group.

Hawksmoor Construction Ltd, a prime residential builder based in Hertfordshire, entered administration on June 1, 2026. Lee Morris and John Thompson of Marshall Peters were appointed as joint administrators for the firm.

Mackoy Limited, a groundworks contractor specializing in housing and commercial infrastructure, entered administration on June 9, 2026. The Hampshire-based company reported a pre-tax loss of £616,000 for the year ending March 31, 2025, citing increased material costs and interest rate hikes as primary drivers of its decline. Kelly Mitchell and Alyson Richards from Quantuma Advisory Limited were appointed as administrators for the firm.
