CoreWeave Shares Drop Amid Debt and Tech Sell-Off
CoreWeave experienced a sharp share price decline as investors weigh the company's heavy debt load against its rapid data center expansion.
Shares of CoreWeave, an AI cloud infrastructure provider based in Livingston, New Jersey, have declined sharply. The drop stems from a broader technology sector sell-off and investor anxiety regarding the company's significant debt load used to fund rapid growth.
Despite financial pressures, the company has expanded its footprint to 51 data centers with 1.5 gigawatts of active power capacity. CoreWeave secures its operations through long-term take-or-pay contracts with major clients including Microsoft, Meta, and OpenAI. It also maintains a strategic partnership with Nvidia, which holds an equity stake and has committed to purchasing any unused capacity.
Market outlooks remain divided. Paul Meeks of Freedom Capital Markets maintains a bullish position, projecting that annual revenue will grow from $5.1 billion in 2025 to $43.6 billion by 2028. Investors are now looking toward the company's earnings report on November 10 to evaluate financial progress and potential margin improvements.
