Louisiana Begins Early Voting for November Mid-term Elections

Louisiana voters began early voting on October 20 for mid-term elections featuring a high-profile U.S. Senate race and several contested House seats.

Early voting began on October 20 in Louisiana for the November 3 mid-term elections. The statewide ballot is headlined by a U.S. Senate race between Julia Letlow, a Republican endorsed by Donald Trump, and Jamie Davis, a Democrat and Tensas Parish farmer.

All six U.S. House seats are up for election, including those held by Speaker Mike Johnson and Majority Leader Steve Scalise. Two open House seats are heavily contested following a redistricting process that eliminated a majority-Black district.

Beyond federal races, voters will decide on two seats for the Public Service Commission and ten proposed amendments to the state constitution. These amendments cover property taxes, governor term limits, and water infrastructure. Early voting runs through October 27, excluding October 25, with polls open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
