Bangladesh Inflation Drops to 9.16 Percent in June

The Government of Bangladesh reports a slight decline in June inflation to 9.16 percent while implementing a record national budget to curb prices.

The Government of Bangladesh reported a decrease in the national inflation rate to 9.16 percent in June, down from 9.42 percent in May. Data released by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics shows that food inflation eased to 8.60 percent from 9.06 percent, and non-food inflation declined slightly to 9.61 percent from 9.71 percent.

Despite the monthly dip, average inflation for the 2025-26 fiscal year stood at 8.89 percent, surpassing the official budgetary target of 7 percent. To address these economic pressures, the National Parliament of Bangladesh approved a record 9.38-trillion-taka national budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year on June 30.

Through this new fiscal framework, the government aims to reduce inflation to 7.5 percent and increase GDP growth to 6.5 percent in the current fiscal year.
