Bouygues Expands Into US and Germany to Offset French Slump

Bouygues SA is expanding its operations into the United States, Germany, and Northern Europe to offset sluggish economic growth and political uncertainty in France. The French construction and telecommunications conglomerate is specifically targeting roadworks and electrical engineering services in these dynamic markets.

A central component of the strategy is the growth of Equans, a subsidiary focused on infrastructure for the energy transition. In Germany, where the company currently generates approximately 1 billion euros in revenue, leadership believes earnings could potentially double or triple.

Chief Executive Officer Olivier Roussat noted that domestic political instability ahead of France's next presidential election threatens the company's real estate business and advertising revenue at its broadcasting unit, TF1. Roussat emphasized the need to target more profitable regions to maintain growth.
