Partners Group Invests Over $1 Billion in AVK Power Solutions
Partners Group agreed to acquire a majority stake in AVK Power Solutions to expand digital infrastructure and power supply for data centers.
Swiss private equity firm Partners Group agreed to acquire a majority stake in AVK Power Solutions, a United Kingdom-based provider of microgrids and backup electricity generators for data centers. The transaction begins with an initial investment exceeding $1 billion, supplemented by additional debt financing intended to fuel AVK's international expansion. AVK's management team will retain a minority stake in the company.
Partners Group is utilizing its $15 billion infrastructure fund for the acquisition. The firm identifies power supply as a critical bottleneck for data center development, specifically within Europe. This investment reflects a broader trend of private equity firms funding digital infrastructure to support the growth of artificial intelligence systems.
AVK Power Solutions Chief Executive Officer Ben Pritchard characterized the partnership as a means to meet customer needs as market demands evolve. Managing Director Sam Pepper described the investment as a strategic play on the digital economy.
