Israeli Forces Target Olive Harvesters in Lebanon and West Bank
Israeli forces abducted a Lebanese olive picker and conducted raids against Palestinian farmers in the West Bank on Friday.
The Israeli military conducted a series of operations targeting olive harvesters and residents across southern Lebanon and the occupied West Bank on Friday. In Deir Mimas, Lebanon, troops opened fire near residents and abducted an olive picker. Following the abduction, the military established a checkpoint that blocked access to more than half of the village's olive groves.
Mayor Tania Barnaba reported that the village was informed it now falls within the military's yellow line, a boundary separating occupied areas from Lebanese state control. This action followed a confrontation between Israeli troops and the Lebanese Armed Forces, who had previously established an observation post in the area before withdrawing.
Simultaneously, Israeli soldiers and settlers carried out raids and assaults in the West Bank. In Abu Falah and near Jabal al-Risan, forces detained foreign activists and journalists who were supporting Palestinian farmers. Other reported incidents included the detention of Khalil Mahmoud al-Hamamdeh near Yatta, the burning of residential tents in Duma, and the destruction of electricity poles in Burin. The Palestinian Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission noted these events follow a pattern of aggression, having documented 409 attacks on olive farming between October 1 and 21.
