Bayer Invests $2.2 Billion in New Ohio Manufacturing Site

Bayer will invest $2.2 billion to build a pharmaceutical manufacturing campus in New Albany, Ohio, creating 600 permanent jobs by 2031.

Bayer will invest $2.2 billion to construct a flexible, modular pharmaceutical manufacturing campus in New Albany, Ohio. The new facility will focus on drug substance and drug product manufacturing for the company's cardiovascular, renal care, and oncology portfolios.

The project is expected to create 600 permanent high-value jobs and 1,500 construction positions. The first module for drug substance manufacturing is scheduled to begin operations in 2031, followed by a drug product manufacturing module in 2034. To prepare the necessary workforce, the company will utilize the Ohio Life Science Training Center, which is expected to open in the summer of 2027.

Governor Mike DeWine stated that the project solidifies Ohio's position as a global biomanufacturing leader. The investment aligns with Bayer's long-term strategy to strengthen the American medicine supply within its largest pharmaceuticals market. JobsOhio, a private nonprofit economic development corporation, supported the project and is investing up to $30 million in the associated training center to ensure workforce readiness.
