Unknown Projectiles Strike Three Oil Tankers in Strait of Hormuz
Unknown projectiles struck three Liberian-flagged oil tankers transiting the Strait of Hormuz while the vessels had their identification transponders disabled.
Three Liberian-flagged oil tankers were struck by unknown projectiles on Tuesday while transiting the Strait of Hormuz. The vessels—the Al Ruwais, Mersin Prosperity, and Sinbad—were traveling with their Automatic Identification System transponders disabled to avoid detection.
Shipping data from Kpler indicates the Al Ruwais and Mersin Prosperity recently conducted ship-to-ship transfers off Suhar, Oman, involving diesel and Iraqi Basrah crude. The Sinbad had previously loaded refined products at the Jubail industrial port in Saudi Arabia.
ADNOC Logistics & Services, the manager of the Al Ruwais and Mersin Prosperity, declined to comment on the incident. Anglo-Eastern Tanker Management, the manager of the Sinbad, did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
