Oman Expands Air Links with Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh

Oman is expanding its international aviation network through new partnerships and route launches. On September 1, 2026, SalamAir, the nation's low-cost carrier, inaugurated its first direct flight service between Muscat and Sylhet, Bangladesh. The airline is the first foreign carrier to operate scheduled services to Sylhet, which now serves as its third destination in Bangladesh.

The inaugural flight departed Muscat International Airport with a 70% load factor and concluded with a welcoming ceremony at Osmani International Airport. The service is designed to provide the Bangladeshi expatriate community in Oman with more affordable travel by removing the need for connecting flights, supporting the broader goals of Oman Vision 2040 to increase global connectivity.

Additionally, the Oman Civil Aviation Authority has approved Saudia to operate three direct weekly flights between Muscat and Riyadh. Scheduled to begin on October 27, 2026, this service aims to enhance business and tourism links between the two capital cities.
