Apple Launches AI-Powered Mac mini and Mac Studio

Apple Inc. announced upgraded Mac mini and Mac Studio desktops featuring M6 and M5 series chips designed for high-performance artificial intelligence.

Apple Inc. announced upgraded Mac mini and Mac Studio desktop computers on August 25, 2026, featuring new M6, M5 Pro, M5 Max, and M5 Ultra chips. The updates prioritize artificial intelligence performance, with the M6 chip delivering the world's fastest single-threaded performance and the M5 Ultra providing up to 4.3x faster AI compute.

The Mac mini starts at $899, while the Mac Studio is priced at $2,499 for the M5 Max and $5,499 for the M5 Ultra. Both models include Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 and will ship with macOS 27 Golden Gate. Preorders began Tuesday, with store availability scheduled for September 22.

These launches occur during a global memory chip shortage and precede a leadership transition. Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook will hand leadership to John Ternus on September 1. The company is also expected to unveil new iPhones, including its first foldable model, around September 9.
