Nvidia Corporation Uses Vera CPU to Accelerate Chip Design

Nvidia Corporation is using its Vera CPU to power design workflows for next-generation hardware, targeting a $200 billion server CPU market.

Nvidia Corporation announced on July 26 that it has integrated its Vera CPU into the electronic design automation workflows used to develop its next-generation CPUs and GPUs. Early tests using tools from Cadence and Synopsys show a 1.5x increase in simulation and verification performance. The company intends to use this internal feedback loop to lower the cost and time required to build future hardware, specifically the upcoming Rosa CPU.

This strategy positions the company to target approximately $200 billion in addressable server CPU revenue, with a sales guide of $20 billion for the current fiscal year.

In contrast, Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. is pursuing design acceleration through external collaborations. On July 27, Synopsys Inc. announced new AI workflows developed with Microsoft Corporation that AMD is currently evaluating to speed up chip production. While Nvidia relies on its own proprietary silicon for the design process, AMD is utilizing capabilities provided by its electronic design automation partners.
