Prime Minister Tarique Rahman Expands Bangladeshi Cabinet to 51 Members
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman added five new members and promoted one official to the Bangladeshi cabinet during a swearing-in ceremony at Bangabhaban.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman expanded the Bangladeshi cabinet on August 21, 2026, adding five new members and promoting one official to full ministerial rank. The expansion brings the total cabinet size to 51 members, comprising 28 ministers and 23 state ministers. This follows the original formation of the government on February 17, which consisted of 48 members.
During the ceremony at Bangabhaban, Abdul Moyeen Khan, Andaleeve Rahman, and Sa Ching Pru were sworn in as ministers. Rashiduzzaman Millat was promoted from state minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism to full minister. Additionally, Shamim Kaiser Lincoln and Humaiun Kobir were sworn in as state ministers.
President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir administered the oaths of office immediately after taking his own oath as president. The government also maintains 10 advisers who operate outside the formal cabinet structure.
