Pakistan Petrol Pump Owners Announce Nationwide Shutdown

The All Pakistan Petroleum Pump Owners Association will shut down petrol pumps nationwide starting July 22 following failed negotiations over pricing and commissions.

The All Pakistan Petroleum Pump Owners Association announced an indefinite nationwide shutdown of petrol pumps effective 12 AM on Wednesday, July 22, 2026. The decision comes after negotiations on Tuesday between association representatives and Federal Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik failed to resolve critical industry disputes.

Pump owners are protesting a proposed transition from a monthly fuel price mechanism to a daily pricing system. Association leadership argues that this shift creates operational difficulties and complicates business management. Beyond pricing, the group is demanding an increase in dealer commissions and systemic improvements to the petrol supply chain.

Industry leaders criticized the government for implementing these policy changes without consulting stakeholders. The association stated that current commission rates have made it impossible to maintain viable operations, asserting that their demands for reform are legitimate.
