Mississippi Secures $14 Million Child Safety Settlement From Roblox

Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch reached a $14 million settlement with Roblox to implement mandatory age verification and enhanced parental controls to protect minors.

Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch reached a $14 million settlement with the gaming platform Roblox on June 22, 2026, to address allegations that the company failed to protect children from predatory conduct and grooming. The agreement resolves legal claims brought by Mississippi and several other states regarding online risks to minors.

Under the terms of the settlement, Roblox will allocate $9 million toward digital literacy education and a parental empowerment program, while providing $5 million in liquidated damages to ensure compliance. The company must implement mandatory age verification, software upgrades to block adult-minor interactions, and the disablement of nighttime notifications. Parents will receive expanded controls over communication, playtime, game access, and the transfer of Robux currency.

To support law enforcement, Roblox will maintain unencrypted communication for minors and hire an in-state liaison for the Attorney General’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. These measures aim to provide authorities with better tools to combat child exploitation on the platform.
