Nigeria Suspends U.S. Visa Processor Online Integrated Solutions

The Nigeria Immigration Service terminated its contract with Online Integrated Solutions, requiring U.S. visa applicants to apply directly through diplomatic missions.

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has indefinitely suspended its contract with Online Integrated Solutions (OIS Services), the third-party operator of Nigerian Visa Application and Submission Centres in the United States. Effective July 1, OIS Services is disengaged from collecting and submitting visa applications on behalf of the Nigerian Mission.

Prospective travelers and Nigerians residing in the U.S. must now submit physical visa applications directly to the Embassy of Nigeria in Washington, D.C., or the Consulates General of Nigeria in New York and Atlanta. This change affects locations previously managed by OIS, including Houston, Los Angeles, and New Jersey. The official electronic visa (e-Visa) system remains operational through the official online portal.

Public Relations Officer Akinsola Akinlabi stated that the NIS has implemented measures to ensure the transition does not disrupt the processing and issuance of visas. While the NIS did not provide a specific reason for the abrupt termination, the move aligns with federal government efforts to streamline consular services and address concerns regarding transparency and extra charges associated with third-party operators.
