Ukraine Launches Record Drone Raid on Moscow Amid Russian Strikes
Ukraine conducted its largest drone attack on Moscow since 2022 while Russian forces killed civilians in Dnipropetrovsk and Pavlohrad.
A significant escalation in aerial warfare occurred between June 18 and June 19, 2026, characterized by a record Ukrainian drone campaign and continued Russian strikes on civilian infrastructure. On June 19, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine coordinated its largest drone raid on Moscow since February 2022. During the engagement, a Russian Pantsir air defense missile missed its target and struck a fuel storage tank at the Moscow Oil Refinery in Kapotnya, causing an explosion and damaging the Euro+ processing unit. Moscow officials reported 194 drones shot down over the capital, while Russian authorities claimed a total of 992 drones and missiles were intercepted across the region.
Ukrainian forces also targeted fuel facilities and railway bridges in occupied Crimea. In response, Ukrainian officials urged Moscow residents to demand answers from Russian leadership.
Simultaneously, the Military of Russia conducted extensive bombardments in Ukraine. On June 18, more than 20 attacks using drones, missiles, and artillery hit the Dnipropetrovsk region, killing two civilians and injuring 17. These strikes damaged a medical clinic in Nikopol and a gas station in the Kryvyi Rih district. Further Russian strikes on June 19 killed an 8-year-old girl in Pavlohrad and wounded 10 people in Kharkiv.
