SpiceJet Flight Disruptions Hit Delhi Airport Amid Financial Crisis

Operational disruptions at Indira Gandhi International Airport on September 19, 2026, resulted in numerous SpiceJet flight delays and cancellations. Airport authorities deployed on-ground teams to assist stranded passengers and coordinated with the low-cost carrier to manage the impact of the disruptions.

These operational failures occur as SpiceJet faces a severe financial crisis that has grounded a significant portion of its fleet. Union Minister of Civil Aviation Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu stated that the government is pushing the airline to increase its operations and resolve its financial instability.

To address liquidity constraints and high fuel prices, SpiceJet is attempting to secure funding through the Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS). This credit support program was approved by the Union Cabinet in May to assist struggling Indian airlines.
