X Launches Original Content Rewards Program to Replace Revenue Sharing
X is replacing its Revenue Sharing program with a new rewards system that pays creators based on qualified impressions from Premium users starting September 8.
Social media platform X is replacing its Revenue Sharing program with the Original Content Rewards Program, a system designed to pay creators for original ideas, reporting, analysis, and creativity. The platform has stopped accepting new enrollments for the previous revenue sharing model, which will wind down after September 7, with final payouts scheduled for September 11.
Starting September 8, eligible creators can apply for the new program. Unlike the previous advertising-revenue split, the new model issues payouts every two weeks based on qualified impressions. These are defined as unique views from Premium users on the Home Timeline where at least half of a post is visible.
To qualify, creators must be at least 18 years old, subscribe to X Premium, Premium+, or Premium Business, and have at least 500 verified followers. Additionally, they must have generated 500,000 Home Timeline impressions from verified users within the last 90 days. The program explicitly excludes automated posts, misinformation, and reposted content. To earn payouts on shared material, creators must provide substantive commentary or analysis, as re-uploads without authorship or reposts with only minor edits are ineligible.
