Bilateral trade between the United Kingdom and Romania grew 4.9% to GBP 10.3 billion in 2025. According to data from the UK Department for Business and Trade, British exports to Romania rose 7% to GBP 3 billion, while imports from Romania increased 4% to GBP 7.3 billion. These figures place Romania as the 32nd-largest trading partner for the UK.

The automotive sector served as the primary driver for goods imported into the UK, with Romanian car exports totaling GBP 1.3 billion. Simultaneously, British services exports to Romania climbed 16.1% to GBP 1.5 billion, propelled largely by the travel and business services sectors.

Investment trends showed a divergence by the end of 2024. While Romanian foreign direct investment in the UK rose 22.2% to GBP 303 million, British foreign direct investment in Romania fell 19.9% to GBP 752 million. Robert Uzuna, Chairman of the British Romanian Chamber of Commerce, stated that the results confirm a positive trend in the economic relationship and provide a foundation for future investment and innovation.
