Nigel Farage Backs Essex Security Patrols Targeting Anti-Social Behavior
Nigel Farage visited Chelmsford to support Operation Vanguard, a new Essex County Council security pilot deploying uniformed guards to three towns.
Reform UK leader Nigel Farage visited Chelmsford on October 15 to highlight Operation Vanguard, a new security initiative launched by Essex County Council. The pilot program deploys six uniformed security guards from the firm My Local Bobby to conduct daily patrols in Chelmsford, Colchester, and Braintree for an initial three-month period.
The patrols target areas with reported anti-social behavior and address resident concerns regarding asylum seekers traveling from Wethersfield into town centers, especially as the capacity of the Wethersfield facility is expected to increase. Council leader Peter Harris described the operation as a "direct response" to these concerns, stating the council intended to act proactively.
While supporters believe the visible security presence will reassure the public and local businesses, critics have questioned the necessity and cost of the project.
