OpenAI Seeks $30 Billion in $1.4 Trillion Funding Round
OpenAI is negotiating a financing round of at least $30 billion at a $1.4 trillion valuation with investors from the UAE and BlackRock.
OpenAI is negotiating a financing round to raise at least $30 billion at a valuation of approximately $1.4 trillion. The company is seeking investment from a syndicate of funds from the United Arab Emirates, including Abu Dhabi-based MGX, which have discussed contributing up to $10 billion. BlackRock is also in discussions to participate in the round.
Other potential participants include existing backers Thrive Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, and the University of California endowment fund. In a departure from typical venture rounds, the company is presenting the valuation as a set price rather than negotiating terms with a lead investor.
This funding effort follows a previous $122 billion round raised in March at an $852 billion valuation. The company has pushed back plans for an initial public offering until at least 2027 to prioritize AI safety efforts.
