Mayawati Reinstates Akash Anand as BSP National Coordinator
BSP President Mayawati reinstated her nephew Akash Anand as national coordinator following his public apology and denial of plans to join another party.
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) national president Mayawati reinstated her nephew, Akash Anand, as the party's national coordinator on October 5, 2026. The move follows a period of internal turmoil that began on September 10, when Mayawati expelled Anand and stripped him of all organizational responsibilities.
Mayawati had previously claimed that Anand was being influenced by his father-in-law, Ashok Siddharth, who was also expelled from the party for anti-party activities. The rift ended after Anand issued a public apology on October 2, in which he reaffirmed his loyalty to the BSP and described Mayawati as his political mentor.
During his apology, Anand denied rumors that he intended to join another political party. He further aligned himself with the party leadership by supporting the decision to expel Ashok Siddharth, stating that the party's mission takes priority over familial interests.
