New York Fashion Week Highlights American Heritage Brand Revival
New York Fashion Week begins next week with a focus on American heritage brands and growth among Gen Z consumers to offset a global luxury slowdown.
New York Fashion Week begins next Wednesday and runs through September 15, featuring approximately 70 shows. The event emphasizes a revival of American heritage brands, with Ralph Lauren Corporation and Coach hosting kickoff runway shows. Both brands have seen significant growth driven by Gen Z consumers in North America and Asia, with Coach specifically benefiting from the popularity of its Tabby bags.
Other notable returns and debuts include Tommy Hilfiger, who returns after a hiatus and a collaboration with NFL star Travis Kelce, and designer Henry Zankov, who will present his first collection for Diane von Furstenberg. New York native Conner Ives will also debut during the event, which concludes with a show by Thom Browne.
While some brands, including those under Capri Holdings such as Michael Kors, have faced sluggish sales, the U.S. luxury market is experiencing growth from native brands. This domestic strength helps offset a broader global luxury slowdown caused by conflict in the Middle East, which has negatively impacted European tourism.
