GE Vernova and LS Electric Form Grid X Technology Venture

GE Vernova and LS Electric established a joint venture to deploy high-voltage direct current technology for South Korea's power grid and international markets.

GE Vernova and LS Electric signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Paris to establish a joint venture called Grid X Technology. The partnership focuses on voltage-source converter high-voltage direct current (VSC-HVDC) technology, merging the global technical expertise of GE Vernova with the local manufacturing and project execution capabilities of LS Electric.

The venture aims to strengthen competitiveness within South Korea's next-generation power grid market. Specifically, the companies intend to support the government's West Coast Energy Highway initiative, which is designed to transmit renewable electricity from the southwestern Jeolla region to the Seoul metropolitan area. Beyond domestic goals, the partners plan to expand their operations into overseas markets.

LS Electric currently operates the largest HVDC production base in South Korea, located in Busan, and remains the only domestic manufacturer with experience supplying main equipment for commercial HVDC projects.
