Nutanix Inc. Cuts Global Workforce by 5 Percent
Nutanix Inc. will reduce its global workforce by 5 percent by October 2026 to realign resources toward AI and infrastructure modernization.
Nutanix Inc. announced on August 4, 2026, a plan to reduce its global workforce by 5 percent over the next three months. The company expects to finalize the layoffs by the end of October 2026, with estimated severance and termination costs ranging from $33 million to $43 million.
In a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the company stated the reduction is intended to streamline its organizational structure and reallocate resources toward strategic priorities and long-term growth. A company spokesperson added that the move will enable increased investment in AI, infrastructure modernization, and customer-facing sales resources.
CEO Rajiv Ramaswami attributed the pressures on customer budgets and timelines to a dynamic macro environment and ongoing supply chain challenges. Despite the restructuring, Nutanix Inc. reported growth in its third fiscal quarter of 2026, adding over 700 new customers and generating $703 million in revenue.
