Boy Dies in Spain During World Cup Victory Celebrations

A 13-year-old boy died on Monday in Ciudad Rodrigo, Spain, when a fountain collapsed during celebrations of the Spanish national team's 1-0 World Cup victory over Argentina. The incident occurred at a roundabout where the upper section of the fountain gave way under the weight of numerous people who had climbed onto the structure. Three other individuals were injured and hospitalized following the collapse.

In response to the tragedy, the City Council of Ciudad Rodrigo declared three days of official mourning, with flags flying at half-mast from July 20 to July 22. Local officials described the event as a tragedy for the entire community.

The accident took place as millions of citizens celebrated across the country. In Madrid, the national team was scheduled to be received by King Felipe VI and Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez after returning from the final in East Rutherford, United States.
