JPMorgan Chase Forecasts Mid-to-High Teens Revenue Growth

JPMorgan Chase co-President Doug Petno expects investment banking and trading revenue to grow by mid-to-high teens percentage in the third quarter.

Co-President Doug Petno announced that JPMorgan Chase expects investment banking fees and trading revenue to grow by mid-to-high teens percentage in the third quarter. Speaking at the Barclays Global Financial Services Conference, Petno attributed the optimistic outlook to a strong pipeline and high levels of confidence from the bank's board and management, which he believes will drive a surge in M&A activity.

This forecast supported JPMorgan shares, which closed up approximately 0.7%. The gain offset a broader selloff among major bank stocks that had been triggered by a weak forecast from Bank of America. Petno indicated the bank is prepared to pursue opportunistic acquisitions if market disruptions lead to appropriate valuations.

Petno also addressed the bank's leadership structure following the elevation of himself and Troy Rohrbaugh to co-presidents. He clarified that CEO Jamie Dimon is not stepping back from his role and remains active in the market despite the implementation of the new succession plan.
