Bangladesh Plans First Foreign-Currency Sovereign Bond Sale
The Government of Bangladesh plans to raise up to $1 billion through its first-ever foreign-currency sovereign bond sale within three months.
The Government of Bangladesh is preparing to launch its first-ever foreign-currency sovereign bond sale to raise between $500 million and $1 billion. The issuance is expected to occur within the next three months, with JPMorgan Chase & Co. slated to manage the process.
Tanvir Shahriar Ghani, special assistant to the prime minister for investment and capital market affairs, reported robust interest from institutional investors following unofficial meetings in New York and Europe. However, the government is exercising caution regarding pricing due to increased global borrowing costs following US Federal Reserve rate hikes.
The plan currently awaits final approval from Prime Minister Tarique Rahman before the sale can proceed.
