Mahindra and Bajaj Auto Report Strong August Sales Growth
Mahindra & Mahindra and Bajaj Auto reported significant year-on-year sales increases for August 2026, driven by strong export demand and new model responses.
Major Indian automotive manufacturers reported substantial growth for August 2026. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd saw overall auto sales rise 42% year-on-year to 107,648 vehicles. This growth included a 50% increase in domestic utility vehicle sales to 59,257 units and a 71% surge in total exports to 6,054 vehicles. Domestic commercial vehicle sales also rose 22% to 27,415 units.
Bajaj Auto reported a 28% year-on-year increase in total vehicle sales, moving 535,764 units. The company's growth was heavily supported by a 51% surge in exports to 280,056 units and a 10% rise in domestic sales. Two-wheeler sales grew 30% to 443,748 units, while commercial vehicle sales increased 22% to 92,016 units. Following these results, Bajaj Auto stock rallied 3.05% to Rs 12,469.
Other sector activity included JSW MG Motor India, which achieved 14% year-on-year growth with 7,508 wholesale units and launched the MG Hector Tomahawk. Mahindra attributed its success to the market response for the BE 6 SPORTEQ and the updated Scorpio-N.
