Russia Declares Western Coalition Troops Legitimate Military Targets
Russia warns that any multinational force deployed to Ukraine by Western allies would be considered an unacceptable foreign intervention and a legitimate military target.
The Federal Government of Russia announced on July 15 that it views any multinational force sent by allies to Ukraine as an unacceptable foreign intervention and a legitimate military target. This warning follows a meeting in Paris where Western allies in a coalition of the willing discussed deploying the Multinational Force for Ukraine (MNF-U) to rebuild Ukraine's military and provide security after fighting ceases.
Parallel to these diplomatic tensions, combat intensified over Black Sea trade routes. A Russian missile strike on a residential building in Odesa killed three people. In response, Ukrainian drone forces reported striking 20 Russian vessels in the Black Sea and 116 in the Sea of Azov throughout the month.
Regional instability further increased as Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda reported intelligence suggesting Russia is planning attacks on infrastructure. Moscow has denied these claims, characterizing the reports as part of a propaganda campaign.
