Anita Perrottet Denies Funneling Bribes in ICAC Inquiry

Anita Perrottet, director of Macquarie Consulting and wife of former Liberal powerbroker Charles Perrottet, testified before the New South Wales Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) as part of Operation Rosny. She denied allegations that her company acted as a conduit for illegal political donations or bribes totaling between $313,000 and $661,000 intended for her husband.

The commission is investigating whether payments made by consultant Jeremy Greenwood's firms, Beckington and JPG Advisory, were legitimate fees or a mechanism to disguise a $2 million bribe from fugitive property developer Jean Nassif. While Anita Perrottet asserted the funds were for strategic and marketing advice, she admitted she possessed no physical evidence, reports, or meeting notes to support these claims. She further denied ever meeting Nassif, despite evidence of friendly text messages between the developer and her husband.

During questioning, counsel assisting the inquiry suggested that Anita Perrottet was lying under oath to protect her husband. She rejected this claim, maintaining that she was performing genuine work. The inquiry is also examining a plot to remove former building commissioner David Chandler from office at the request of Nassif. Charles Perrottet, who has denied wrongdoing and is currently on leave from his role at BP, is scheduled to appear before the commission.
