Russia Strikes Ukrainian Energy Hubs as Ukraine Attacks Russian Vessel

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation launched a massive overnight strike using precision weapons and long-range drones against military-industrial and energy infrastructure in Kiev and the Odessa region. In Odessa, the strikes hit a thermal power plant, three electrical substations supporting port infrastructure, and a UAV assembly shop. Targets in Kiev and the surrounding region included an oil depot in Borispol, the Aerobavovna plant, a facility producing components for FP-5 Flamingo cruise missiles, and a workshop for unmanned boats.

Russian officials stated the operation targeted facilities involved in the production of missiles and drones, as well as fuel and weapon supplies provided by Western countries. The strikes also hit two warehouses containing military-technical equipment in Chernomorsk.

Simultaneously, the Ukrainian Navy used a sea drone to attack the Nefrit, a Russian service vessel near the port of Sochi in the Black Sea. The Nefrit was performing repair work at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium oil terminal, a critical facility for crude exports. The Ukrainian Navy stated the vessel supported the Russian economy and financed the war by servicing offshore facilities. The attack has disrupted scheduled repairs and created uncertainty regarding future crude-loading operations at the terminal.
