Pakistani Forces Displace 30,000 Civilians in Balochistan
Pakistani security forces ordered 30,000 residents in Balochistan to vacate their homes and face allegations of physical abuse during search operations.
The Military of Pakistan and provincial authorities are conducting large-scale security operations and forced displacements across the Balochistan province. In the Kalat district's Shoor Paarod area, officials ordered approximately 5,000 families, totaling roughly 30,000 people, to vacate their homes by October 30 and relocate to designated camps.
Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat, the Additional Chief Secretary for Home, stated that security forces would forcibly remove any residents who did not comply with the evacuation order. Simultaneously, security forces in the Surab district's Rodeni and Damb areas are accused of intimidating and physically abusing residents during house-to-house searches. Local reports indicate that personnel attempted to force families off ancestral lands and that some civilian settlements have been targeted by drone attacks.
Paank, the human rights wing of the Baloch National Movement, condemned the displacements. The organization argued that government claims regarding state land ownership or the presence of armed fighters do not justify the arbitrary removal of civilians, particularly as the region enters a cold winter season.
