La Caisse Acquires 24% Stake in Altius Telecom

La Caisse invested approximately INR 121 billion to acquire a 24% stake in Altius Telecom Infrastructure Trust, India's largest independent telecom tower platform.

La Caisse invested approximately INR 121 billion (CAD 1.76 billion) to acquire a 24% stake in Altius Telecom Infrastructure Trust, the largest independent telecom tower platform in India. The investment positions the global investment group as a significant shareholder alongside Brookfield, which remains the largest investor, as well as affiliates of GIC and British Columbia Investment Management Corporation.

Altius operates more than 258,000 telecom towers and sites across India, providing the critical infrastructure required for 4G and 5G mobile services. The transaction is driven by the expanding demand for digital infrastructure in India, which currently stands as the world's second-largest telecommunications market.

Emmanuel Jaclot, Executive Vice-President and Head of Infrastructure and Sustainability at La Caisse, noted that infrastructure must keep pace as more people and businesses rely on mobile data. Sam Pollock, CEO of Brookfield’s Infrastructure group, stated that the investment reflects confidence in the business and its ability to meet India's demand for 5G infrastructure.
