Hitachi Joins Anthropic Critical Infrastructure Defense Program
Hitachi Ltd joined Anthropic's Critical Infrastructure Defense Program as a founding partner to integrate Claude AI models into essential service cybersecurity.
Hitachi Ltd joined Anthropic's Critical Infrastructure Defense Program as a founding partner on October 9, 2026. The program, launched one day prior, integrates Anthropic's Claude AI models into products and services to strengthen the cyber defense of essential sectors, including transportation, manufacturing, water, and power.
The initiative responds to the increasing speed of cyber threats and the shrinking window between the disclosure and exploitation of security flaws. Hitachi will apply its expertise in Operational Technology (OT) to participate in working groups and enhance its HMAX Cyber operational resilience service.
This collaboration expands a strategic partnership established in May 2026, which previously included a joint effort to safeguard critical software known as Project Glasswing. Hiroaki Koiwa, head of Cyber CoE at Hitachi, stated that ensuring cybersecurity in OT environments supporting social infrastructure is now one of the highest priorities facing society.
