India Integrates Green Policy Into National Economic Planning
The Government of India is aligning its economic development with climate action through renewable energy missions and green industrial policies to boost energy security.
The Government of India is integrating renewable energy, energy efficiency, and green industrial policy directly into its national economic planning. This strategy treats climate action as a driver of economic growth rather than an obstacle, focusing on enhancing energy security, attracting investment, and generating employment.
This development model evolved from the 2008 National Action Plan on Climate Change. Current efforts are led by the National Solar Mission, the National Green Hydrogen Mission, and the Production Linked Incentive scheme, which supports domestic solar manufacturing. To address transport, the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles (FAME) programme has accelerated the transition to electric mobility.
According to the Vietnam Times, these initiatives have increased India's international visibility. The country now uses global climate summits to share affordable clean energy pathways with other developing nations.
