Firefly Aerospace Signs $1.3 Billion Deal With AST SpaceMobile

Firefly Aerospace will provide 36 rocket engines and technical support to AST SpaceMobile in a three-year agreement valued at over $1.3 billion.

Firefly Aerospace signed a three-year agreement with AST SpaceMobile valued at more than $1.3 billion to provide rocket engines and technical support. Under the terms of the deal, Firefly will deliver 27 Miranda engines and nine vacuum-variant Vira engines to power the first three heavy-lift rockets for AST SpaceMobile.

The contract includes a license allowing AST SpaceMobile to manufacture the engines, though Firefly retains full ownership of the intellectual property. Payment for the engines and engineering support will be made through a combination of cash and AST SpaceMobile Class A Common Stock.

Firefly plans to use the proceeds to expand its engineering and technician workforce and procure long-lead materials. The company will also construct new test bays at its Rocket Ranch facility in Briggs, Texas, to accelerate the production of its own launch vehicles.
