Honor Launches Robot Phone with Motorized Gimbal Camera in China

Honor released the Robot Phone in China, featuring a motorized titanium gimbal camera and AI-driven robotic arm for professional content creation.

The technology company Honor launched the Robot Phone in Guangzhou, China, on August 12, 2026. Described as a "new species of smartphone," the device features a motorized titanium gimbal camera on a robotic arm with four degrees of motion. This system allows the 200MP main camera to rotate 300 degrees, track subjects automatically, and perform physical gestures via the Yoyo AI assistant.

Developed in partnership with cinema equipment brand ARRI, the phone includes a custom H1 Image Chip supporting professional workflows such as LogC3 recording and Arri Wide Gamut 3. Beyond photography, Honor partnered with Seeed Studio to create robot bodies that use the phone as a central processing unit to control wheeled or bipedal robots.

The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and includes a 7,060mAh battery with a 6.3-inch OLED display. It is available in Silver and Gray, with prices starting at 9,999 yuan (approximately $1,480) for the 12GB RAM model and 12,999 yuan (approximately $1,930) for the 16GB RAM model.

While early reports suggested a potential release in India with financing from Bajaj Finance, the current launch is exclusive to China. Pre-orders reached 400,000 units immediately following the announcement, with official retail sales beginning August 18.
