India Electronics Imports Hit $116 Billion in 2025-26

India's electronics imports reached $116.17 billion in the 2025-26 fiscal year, rising 17.76% despite growth in smartphone exports.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry reported that India's electronics imports exceeded $100 billion for the 2025-26 fiscal year, totaling $116.17 billion. This figure marks a 17.76% increase over the $98.65 billion imported during the previous fiscal year.

While electronics exports also saw growth, rising 24.7% to $48.0 billion, these totals remain significantly lower than import volumes. This export growth was primarily driven by an increase in smartphone shipments.

The Global Trade Research Initiative stated that the high import figures highlight India's persistent reliance on foreign semiconductors, components, and electronic equipment. This dependency persists despite national efforts to expand domestic manufacturing capabilities.
