Afghanistan and Uzbekistan Sign $267 Million in Trade Pacts
Afghan and Uzbek traders signed 20 trade agreements totaling $267 million during a business networking conference in Kabul to expand bilateral economic cooperation.
Afghanistan's Ministry of Industry and Commerce and representatives from Uzbekistan's Kashkadarya province facilitated the signing of 20 trade agreements totaling $267 million during a business networking conference in Kabul on August 30, 2026.
The agreements cover a wide range of sectors, including textiles, food products, livestock, furniture, electronic equipment, and construction materials. These pacts build upon a series of memorandums of understanding signed earlier in the year that were valued at over $1 billion, indicating a rapid expansion of the economic partnership between the two neighbors.
Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce Ahmadullah Zahid stated the need to simplify trade and transit procedures to remove existing barriers. Shukhrat Muradov, Deputy Governor of Kashkadarya, expressed the province's readiness to host Afghan delegations and expand industrial cooperation. The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment also participated in the meetings to help increase bilateral trade volume.
