The Philippine Statistics Authority reported that the overall inflation rate in the Philippines slowed to 6.4 percent in June 2026, down from 6.8 percent in May. This marks the second consecutive monthly decline since inflation reached a peak of 7.2 percent in April.
National Statistician Claire Dennis Mapa attributed the downtrend primarily to a slower annual increase in the transport index, which fell to 12.8 percent from 16.2 percent in May. Slower price increases for food, non-alcoholic beverages, and household furnishings also contributed to the decline.
Despite the overall drop, core inflation—which excludes volatile food and energy items—rose to 4.4 percent in June from 4.1 percent in May. The average inflation rate for the first half of 2026 was 4.8 percent.
