Dubai Awards Dh3 Billion for Stormwater Drainage Expansion
Dubai Municipality awarded Dh3 billion in contracts to expand stormwater drainage lines across 100 square kilometers as part of the Dh30 billion Tasreef Programme.
The Dubai Municipality has awarded contracts worth Dh3 billion ($816 million) for four new projects under Phase 3 of the Tasreef Programme. The initiative will construct and extend approximately 100 kilometers of main stormwater drainage lines, with diameters reaching 3 meters, covering 100 square kilometers of the emirate.
This expansion targets 11 key economic, commercial, industrial, and tourism corridors, including Jumeirah, Al Barsha, Al Quoz, Umm Suqeim, Al Safa, Al Manara, Al Wasl, Za’abeel, Al Bada’a, Al Satwa, and Al Marmoom. The Jumeirah and Umm Suqeim project represents one of the largest components of this phase, accounting for 42 kilometers of the new drainage lines.
Phase 3 is part of a broader Dh30 billion strategic investment designed to increase stormwater drainage capacity by 700% and reduce pumping station and maintenance costs by 20%. The program follows previous contract awards in April 2025 and February 2026, the latter of which included a Dh2.5 billion package for 30 vital areas.
The project aligns with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan and the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 Strategy to improve climate resilience. The development follows directives from Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to strengthen infrastructure resilience and support urban growth.
