India's Software and Hardware Parks Drive Export Growth
The Government of India reported that software technology park exports reached Rs 7.73 lakh crore in FY 2025-26, alongside growth in electronics hardware units.
The Government of India reported that exports from Software Technology Park (STP) units reached over Rs 7.73 lakh crore during the 2025-26 financial year. This represents a 21.56 per cent increase from Rs 6.36 lakh crore in FY 2023-24, following a steady climb through FY 2024-25. Karnataka emerged as the leading state for software exports at Rs 3.50 lakh crore, followed by Maharashtra and Telangana.
While the number of STP units grew to 2,125 nationwide, total investment in these units declined steadily from Rs 10,709.92 crore in FY 2023-24 to Rs 7,362.86 crore in FY 2025-26. Imports remained stable, ending the period at Rs 9,960.26 crore.
Simultaneously, Electronics Hardware Technology Park (EHTP) units increased to 79 in FY 2025-26, up from 70 two years prior. EHTP exports reached an estimated Rs 11,200 crore, with Karnataka serving as the primary hub by hosting 34 units. These units benefit from duty-free imports of raw materials and capital goods under the Foreign Trade Policy 2023.
To support this growth, the Software Technology Parks of India automated statutory services and implemented a single-window clearance system. This included integrating online systems with the Reserve Bank of India's Export Data Processing and Monitoring System for real-time data transmission and replacing individual import permissions with blanket annual permissions.
