Rivian Automotive Inc. Exceeds Q2 Revenue Estimates and Lowers Spending

Rivian Automotive Inc. reported second-quarter revenue of $1.66 billion and narrowed its 2026 loss projections while shipping its new R2 vehicle model.

Rivian Automotive Inc. reported second-quarter 2026 revenue of $1.66 billion, surpassing Wall Street estimates of $1.51 billion. The company achieved a gross profit of $179 million, a significant reversal from the $206 million loss recorded in the previous year. This shift was primarily driven by a $215 million profit from software and services.

In a move to optimize its financial outlook, the company lowered its 2026 capital expenditure guidance to between $1.7 billion and $1.8 billion, down from an initial forecast of $1.95 billion to $2.05 billion. Management attributed this reduction to project efficiencies and improved spending timing. Rivian Automotive Inc. also narrowed its expected adjusted losses for the year to a range of $1.8 billion to $2 billion.

Operational milestones included the June shipment of the R2 model and the confirmation of an annual delivery target between 65,000 and 70,000 vehicles. CEO RJ Scaringe stated that the conversion of reservations to orders for the R2 launch edition has been meaningfully higher than internal projections. Chief Financial Officer Claire McDonough noted that the third quarter would reflect the full impact of the production ramp and the addition of a second production shift.
