Prairie Farms Dairy Permanently Closes Two Wisconsin Facilities

Prairie Farms Dairy is permanently closing two production facilities in Shullsburg, Wisconsin, leading to the layoff of 97 employees. The closures affect the Shullsburg Creamery and White Hill Cheese plants, according to notices filed with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development.

At the Shullsburg Creamery, 43 employees are impacted, with some layoffs beginning July 21. The closure of White Hill Cheese affects 54 workers, with layoffs scheduled for August 14. The company stated that bumping rights will not apply because the employees at both sites are not union members.

Prairie Farms informed Shullsburg Mayor Dan Morriseey and state workforce officials of the decision. Some staff members will remain at the facilities temporarily to wind down operations before the sites close completely.
