United States Deploys F-16s and Drones Near Iran

The Federal government of the United States increased military activity near the Strait of Hormuz, deploying reconnaissance aircraft and drones in close proximity to Iranian territory. US reconnaissance aircraft were observed near the islands of Qeshm and Hengam, while drones and aircraft were spotted over Kermanshah Province in western Iran.

As part of the buildup, the United States transferred 12 F-16 fighter jets from Spangdahlem Air Base in Germany to the region. These deployments coincide with a rise in tanker traffic through the waterway and are viewed as a potential signal of escalation.
